This morning’s Sermon’s online from both Bishop Cherry and Rev Jeremy were about waiting , reflecting on the period between Ascension and Pentecost. We as a Benefice have been waiting anxiously for news of a new Rector and it seems appropriate that the following news has been released today.
‘We have a candidate for the role of Rector and Ministry Area Leader for Caldicot Benefice, whom we’ll be interviewing, all being well, on 24 June. This appointment is Bishop Cherry’s and we four (Gethin, Fay, Paul, and Steve) have been asked to reflect the Benefice’s view through an interview process with her and which will also involve Archdeacon Ambrose and Area Dean, Jeremy.
At Ambrose’s invitation the four Benefice representatives have been discussing possible questions for the candidate, based on the Benefice Profile and feedback we have previously received from members of the parishes.
We have updated the Benefice Profile including information from 2019/20 and taken into account feedback from the Nominations Board.
We have met twice virtually, once with Reverend Jeremy.
We are now looking forward to meeting the candidate on your behalf. Please note that we have been specifically asked by the Archdeacon not to share any of the candidate’s details with anyone outside the panel, in order to maintain confidentiality. Obviously if an appointment is made we will be delighted to share details then!
Please pray for the candidate and for the interview panel that we may understand what God is saying to us and make decisions that are right for the Benefice, our communities and for all concerned.’
